Congress is in the process of deciding funding levels for Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27). Senators Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) are asking their Senate colleagues to support at least $3.517 billion for Department of Defense (DoD) medical research programs. They are circulating a “Dear Colleague” letter, a formal letter used by members of Congress to encourage other lawmakers to support an issue. The letter urges Senate appropriators to protect funding for DoD Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) programs, with a particular focus on the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), which funds research on diseases and conditions affecting service members, veterans, and civilians. Ask your Senator to add their name to this letter in a show of support for DoD-funded R&D and the CDMRP!Note: The Quill link referenced in the editable email is only accessible to Congressional offices.
